"Delicious, authentic and freshly made Swahili cuisine! Chef Zayn creates amazing food and is very personable! We ordered the cassava with coconut cream and it was rich and delicious. The chicken coconut curry had great flavors. Her chapatis are very fresh and can be eaten anytime of the day! She even gave us a sampling of samosas and we loved the taste. The mahamris were very tasty! Highly recommended! If you want spicier just ask and she will give you a special chili hot sauce on the side. Thanks again, Chef Zayn, for bringing Kenyan flavors here!"

Mombasa Street Eats is the real deal y'all!!! I love Indian and Mediterranean food, but when I had Chef Zayn's Indo-Swahili fusion cuisine I was hooked!!! Everything I have ever tried was delicious and prepared carefully and with love. This is passionately prepare food and you can taste it in every bite! From the samosas to the Biryani Rice, to her famous Chicken Croquettes, Mombasa Street Eats is a World trip for your taste buds!! Not to mention they are based out of East Aldine and are such wonderful people and chefs!!!

A wonderful “First Friday Lunch” for the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce at their beautiful new main office in the fantastic new Sesh Coworking complex at 2808 Caroline in Midtown. An incredible lunch was catered by Mombasa Street EATS, who serves East African-inspired dishes at their location at 3000 Aldine Mail Route. Attendees feasted on delicious samosas, fish cakes, cutlets, a pilaf made with nuts and raisins, saffron rice, and many other delightful dishes. I especially love the maharagwe ya nazi, a slightly sweet blend of kidney beans with rice and coconut milk.
Congratulations to Tammi Wallace, Jack Berger, and all the people who make it happen at the Chamber! And what a joy and honor to see so many friends and to have a picture taken with three fellow Pride Marshals and all-time heroes of mine, Dalton DeHart, JD Doyle, and Bryan Hlavinka.
Most amazing was seeing J. D. Doyle, who considers Lucky Charms to be gourmet cereal and orders EXTRA mild salsa at Taco Bell and still finds it too spicy, pile down nearly an entire plate of food, declaring most of it delicious. Way to go wild, JD! Now, I’m going to take you out to my favorite place in Southwest Houston for curried brains masala

Friday was not just another "open house".... many might have seen the invite and thought...it was another lunch, another event...just a regular day. But Friday was so much more...it was about connecting community, seeing Chef Zayn shine, watching people enjoy delicious food inspired from the culture of Mombasa(" Mombasa Street EATS ), being in a space that has a mission to support the LGBTQ+ community, women and communities of color ") , being in a space that has a mission to support the LGBTQ+ community, women and communities of color ( Sesh Coworking ) and enjoying delicious treats baked for celebration and community. The day was was also about seeing two business owners from Mombasa connect for the first time, coming up with a two new event ideas to support the LGBTQ+ community with the support of three LGBTQ+ owned businesses, connecting with a key organization to help promote the Grubhub Community Impact Grant Program, seeing people join us for the first time and watching them light up as they found community and support and meeting new members and sharing ways they can engage. And truly so much more! I often say that the Chamber is at the intersection of business & community. Friday was a day of community + connection + impact. It's an exciting time at the Chamber with so much more ahead! Thank you to all of the amazing members and our Chamber Team who helped make the Chamber Office Open House and First Friday Meet & Eat a spectacular success.
